However, the most prominent team in this area of town is easily the NFL's Oakland Raiders.

Golden State Warriors History
Like many of the current Western conference teams, the Warriors original home was in an Eastern state. Originating as the Philadelphia Warriors, the team was quite successful in the BAA. The team was recruited by the newly formed NBA and immediately dominated the league. The Warriors would actually win the NBA Championship in 1956. During its time in Philadelphia, a legend of the game was on its roster, Wilt Chamberlain.
The team would leave Philadelphia in 1962 and relocate to San Francisco, where it would remain until 1971. The San Francisco years were not great, but the team did manage to win two conference titles during that span. When two of the team's superstars, Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry, departed for other teams, its good fortune went with them. It would not be until 1975, after moving to Oakland, that the Warriors would once again rise to dominance.
Golden State was a true force in 1975, as it won its Division, Conference, and League Championship. The team had now won its second NBA Championship, its third title overall if the 1947 BAA title is included. In 1976, Golden State would once again win its division, but the playoffs were anything but kind. As of the 2010-11 season, the Warriors have yet to win another division, conference, or league championship.
