One of the oldest teams in the NFL, the Giants were founded in 1925 and have played in or around New York City ever since being created. This team has in total been in playoff contention for either the NFL Championship or the Super Bowl title a combined thirty times over the course of their history. In total, the Giants have won seven championships for the city of New York since their foundation.

The pre-merger years, were marked by four of these championships which came in 1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956. The 1950's Giants were an extremely good football club that was littered with Hall of Fame talent like quarterback Y.A. Tittle and multi-positional player Frank Gifford, who was the face of the league during this time period. Also, the Giants played in what is considered the NFL's greatest game in the only overtime championship game against the Baltimore Colts at Yankee Stadium in 1958.

After the merger, the Giants became a second tier team in the tough NFC East division until Bill Parcells was hired as head coach in the 1980's. Parcells rebuilt the Giants around two players, linebacker Lawrence Taylor and quarterback Phil Simms. Together these two players, along with rest of the Giants, collected two Super Bowl rings in 1983 and 1990.

After the Giants failed attempt in Super Bowl XXXV against the Ravens, the team retooled by drafting quarterback Eli Manning. Coupled with Giant great defensive end, Michael Strahan, the G-Men went on to get back to the Super Bowl six years later. This time they would stop the undefeated New England Patriots from becoming the second undefeated team in NFL history in one of the most dramatic Super Bowl victories in the history of the NFL.
