St. Louis Rams History

The Rams have been based out of the three different cities over their tenure in the National Football League. They were founded in Cleveland, spent most of their time in Los Angeles, and most recently have been based out of St. Louis. One of the better things about this team is they have won one championship while being based in each city.

Cleveland saw this team win their first championship in 1945, but facing off against the more popular Browns was too much of a challenge and they moved the franchise the next year to Los Angeles. Part of the reason this team was moved was so that the 49ers were not the only team on the west coast. They both played their first seasons in California in 1946. However, it would be the Rams that brought the first NFL championship to California in 1951. During their time in this town, the Rams had great talent on their teams that included Deacon Jones, a member of the Fearsome Foursome defense, and Roman Gabriel.

This team would be moved to St. Louis in 1993 and would hit a rough patch for the first five years in this town. However, when head coach Dick Vermeil was hired, the team accrued one of the most dominant offenses in NFL history. Marshal Faulk, Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, and Torry Holt all combined to make this offense get the nickname, "the Greatest Show on Turf." They would all have a hand in the Rams organization winning their first Super Bowl in 1999.
