The air play the EP received helped get the band their first record deal with Epic and allowed them to get their biggest release "How to Save a Life" out towards the end of that year.

Their first album used "Cable Car" as the lead song and got the band worldwide acclaim as one of the up and coming new bands. The song was so popular that it even got some airtime on national television as it was used as background music in an episode of Grey's Anatomy . After the launch of their first album, the band toured for a bit then returned to the studio to work on and release their second album.
