Chimaira History and Facts

Rhythm guitarist Jason Hager and vocalist Mark Hunter first started the metal band Chimaira in 1998. When they first formed the band, they teamed up with Andrew Ermlick on bass and Jason Genaro on the drums. Although metal music had not been widely popular in recent years, Chimera is one of the bands noted for being part of the new wave of heavy metal in American music. They blend several different styles, including groove metal, industrial metal and death metal.

In 1999, the band added Rob Arnold on guitar and replaced their drummer with Adonls Herrick before recording their first two demos and beginning to play live. They released the EP "This Present Darkness" in 2000 and performed one of their songs on a USA Network television show before finally singing a deal with Roadrunner Records. They released their full length debut, Pass Out Of Existence, in 2001.

Over the years, the band has had several changes in lineup and record label, signing with Ferret Records in 2006 and E1 Music in 2011. They have toured over the years and have played at festivals such as Ozzfest and the 2008 Dethklok tour. They play a Christmas show each year on top of the many stunning live performances that they give.
