They would repeat as NFL champions in 1984, 1988, and 1989 thanks to this core group of coaches and players.

After Montana moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1992, Steve Young took over as leader of the team. He didn't miss a beat because he led the 49ers to five division titles and one Super Bowl ring of his own in 1994. After the Young era, this team would slide back down the standings until Mike Singletary was made coach in 2008. Since this team has worked to rebuild with players like Patrick Willis, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Alex Smith.
