Dolphins nation was started in the city of Miami, Florida in 1966 as this team was added to the AFL as one of the first expansion teams to this professional football league. However, their best move in their early years was hiring former championship head coach, Don Shula as the leader of this franchise's team on the field.

Under Shula's tutelage, the Dolphins would become the first and only team post merger to go completely undefeated during the regular season and playoffs to win the Super Bowl in 1972. With the talented "No Name" defense and offensive weapons like Bob Griese and Larry Csonka, this team became the first AFC team to win consecutive Super Bowl titles in 1972 and 1973. However, they have only made it back their twice and lost both times in 1981 and 1983.

Part of the reason this team made the Super Bowl in 1983 was because of their rookie franchise quarterback Dan Marino. Marino would go on to have a Hall of Fame career for the Dolphins organization as he set the benchmark for most NFL passing records. However, he would only get his team to the Super Bowl in his rookie season. Since his retirement in 1999, the Dolphins have been in rebuilding mode but look promising as they have noticeably improved over the past three seasons.
